We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Manual and Activator Adjustments With a Chiropractor In Calgary

Our chiropractors in Calgary perform spinal adjustments with either hands or a specially designed medical device called an activator. Both chiropractic techniques involve repositioning the joints to achieve correct alignment, reduce pain, and improve healing and wellness.

Extremity Manipulation

Extremity manipulation is used to treat conditions like joint pain, carpel tunnel syndrome, and tennis elbow. It involves adjusting the joints of the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet in order to reduce pain and improve range of motion, and it is just one of the chiropractic techniques that we perform in our Calgary office.

Diversified Technique

The Diversified Technique is the most commonly performed chiropractic adjustment. It involves our chiropractor in Calgary using short, quick thrusts to realign the spine and neck. It is used to treat pain, stiffness and range of motion loss. During this chiropractic technique, patients are often able to hear cracking, popping and the movement of air within the joints. However, this technique is not uncomfortable or painful.

Gonstead Chiropractic Technique

The Gonstead Chiropractic Technique involves performing manual spinal and extremity adjustments in a certain order to cure a patient’s pain, injury, or ailment and loss of flexibility. Our chiropractors in Calgary determines which vertebrae and joints are out of alignment, then adjust the most severe of the joints. The sessions continue with one or two joints being adjusted at a time until all the joints are in alignment.

Hot Laser Therapy

Hot Laser Therapy is used to heal and stimulate the deep tissues of the body and make chiropractic adjustments more effective. It uses a low level laser light that is held to the skin between 30 seconds and two minutes.

The Activator Methods Technique

The Activator Method Chiropractic Technique is a gentle, low-force approach to chiropractic care that is the world’s most widely used instrument adjustment chiropractic technique. The Activator method of adjustment is different from traditional chiropractic care. The specially designed instrument delivers a precise, low-force thrust that is gentle enough for even young children and seniors. Our chiropractors have completed specialized training in the use of the Activator Methods for the conservative management of pain, injury treatment and recovery, and whole body health. We recommend the Activator Method for relieving low back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain caused by a pinched nerve, as well as other chronic pain conditions.

Relieving Pinched Nerve Pain in Calgary

The Activator Method uses a spring-loaded instrument known as the “activator adjusting” instrument to bring correct alignment back to the spine. When the spine is out of alignment, the body is at risk for injury and pain. Misalignment or dysfunction in a joint interferes with the body’s nervous system. By restoring correct alignment back to the spine, our chiropractor alleviates nerve compression and reduces nerve dysfunction for drug-free pain management.

The Activator adjusting instrument applies a consistent, low-force thrust at a high speed to the subluxation area being treated. When compared with hands-on adjustments, the force of the thrust applied with the Activator adjusting instrument, is lighter, but much quicker than any adjustment or manipulation that could be delivered by hand. This means that the force is delivered before the body has a chance to tense up any muscles to resist the adjustment. Consequently, the faster delivery means that a lower force is necessary and is therefore a more gentle adjustment alternative. Developed specifically to deliver a safe and gentle adjustment to patients, the Activator Methods is safe for use with patients of all ages, including children and seniors.

The Activator Instrument has been studied extensively with results published in hundreds of peer-reviewed research papers. It is now considered to be the world’s most widely used chiropractic adjustment technique. It is the only instrument adjusting technique with a record of success supported by clinical trials.
